Straight Wire Courses
Introduction

Ladent has been having a great success in organizing Seminars and monographic courses in Lingual Orthodontics and in Straight Wire Technique for almost 15 years.

Through this experience we have established a training method that has achieved to fulfil our students' goals.

There are 3 successive levels, and each level has a clear and precise objective, which is obtained by attending classes of theory end practice during one year, once a week, lectured by Dr. Pablo Echarri and his collaborators.

The follow-up and daily work is done with a help of manuals and examples of practical cases given in a form of textbooks.
LEVEL I

This one-year-course is given once a week, on Tuesdays and on Wednesdays.

The course is dedicated to all the stomatologists and dentists who wish to start practicing the Orthodontics, or who already practice it and want to improve their knowledge in the Straight Wire Technique.

The first part of this course consists of the occlusion study and its analysis, determination of orthodontic treatment goals, classification and interpretation of malocclusions with a respect to their aetiology and pathogeny, all with the objective to establish the treatment plan.

The diagnosis techniques on model casts are thoroughly studied, as well as the orthopantomography and lateral and frontal cranial teleradiography, and they are analysed with a respect to the articulator.

The orthodontic material and its use depending on the case are studied, as well as the best working conditions, in order to obtain the best benefits from its characteristics.

Removable appliances and headgears are also analysed, as well as their indications. The indirect and direct bonding techniques and archwire sequencing in Straight Wire Technique are thoroughly analysed, in different malocclusions treatment, with or without extractions.

Finally, the fixation and over-correction are also studied, as well as case finishing and possible TMJ implications.

As a part of its practice work, this level includes the correction of 4 malocclusions on typodont.
LEVEL II

The objective of this clinical orientation course is to improve the knowledge in Orthodontics, studying thoroughly The Straight Wire Technique. This course can be assisted only if the first level has been completed, or if a certain orthodontic experience can be demostrated.

The second level of this course is one year long and it is given once a week on Mondays from 9:30am to 1:30pm starting from September.

Each student has to prepare a written paper on one theoretical subject which will be presented in front of the group.

Through the presentation of numerous clinical cases, the student studies the occlusion and its analysis, as well as how to minimize the necessity for extractions and treatment time with a minimal number of archwires.

The special attention is paid to the study of treatments combined with other specialities, such as: surgery, periodontics, prosthesis and TMJ.
LEVEL III

The objective of this course is to bring up-to-date the participants in Orthodontics as well as clinical cases presentation and consultation among the doctors participants.

The third level is the complement to the two previous ones, and therefore, this course can be attended only by doctors who had already attended the two previous courses, or who have completed the cycle of intensive courses.

This course is given one Friday morning per month, during one year.

Each class has two sections: Each participant has to bring all the information on the case, which will be presented by digital cameras, although we also have other means of material presentation (conventional radiographs, computer files, or slides).

The cases will be discussed publicly, so the other participants can consult the doubts that may have with the respect to the case subject. Other cases, treated in our health center will be also presented.
